Documentation of Master Degree Study Programmes with a Standard Period of Study of 5,5 or 6 Years

I. Stages of Study

The curricula of Master degree study programmes consist of two stages of study and a semester for carrying out the Diploma Project:
  1. The first stage of Master degree study lasts the initial six semesters of the recommended study programme (hereafter referred to as RSP).
  2. The second stage of study covers the remaining semesters of the RSP, except the semester determined for carrying out the Diploma Project.

II. Verification of Study Requirements

The following verifications of compliance with the study requirements are performed during the study in accordance with Art.18 of the Study and Examination Code for the Students of CTU in Prague (hereafter SECS):
  1. Completion verification of the required number of credit units necessary for continuation of study in the following academic year.
  2. Verification of fulfilment of study requirements during the study.
Completion verification of the required number of credit units necessary for continuation of study is made to determine whether students earned at least the minimum required number of credit units over the past semester or academic year in accordance with Art.18 cl.5 of the SECS. The minimum required number of credit units does not include credit units earned for physical training courses.

The minimum required number of credit units necessary for continuation of study is as follows:

  1. 10 - for the first semester of study
  2. 20 - for the first year of study (two semesters)
  3. 30 - for each later year of study (two semesters) or for the last two semesters during which a student was a student by the Act
  4. 15 - for any other academic year of study (two semesters) if a student was not a CTU student for part of the academic year (particularly due to interruption of study, or transfer)
  5. another number of credit units may be set by the dean in accordance with Art.17 cl.10 of the SECS.
Credit units for the courses registered and recognized in accordance with Art.17 cl.11 of the SECS are not considered as credit units earned during the respective semester or academic year. They are only included in the overall sum of credit units earned by the student.

The verification of the minimum number of credit units earned is, as a rule, performed by the Student Administration Office on the registration for the winter semester or on the registration for the spring semester in the first year of study.

During study, the following verifications of fulfilment of study requirements are made:

  1. Completion verification of study requirements of the first year of study set by the RSP. A student is responsible for completing the study requirements of the first year of study (in the 1st and 2nd semester) set by the RSP within two years of study from the last registration for the study programme. The last day eligible for fulfilment of study requirements of the first stage of study is considered the last day of the examination period directly preceding registration for the third year of study. In case of recognition of completion of semesters or courses from a previous study, the time period of the recognized blocks of study or courses is included in the period eligible for fulfilment of study requirements. This period, though, does not include any time of interruption of study.

  2. Completion verification of study requirements of the first stage of study. A student is responsible for completing the first stage of study within five years of study from the last registration for the study programme. The last day eligible for fulfilment of study requirements of the first stage of study is considered the last day of the examination period directly preceding registration for the sixth year of study. In case of recognition of completion of semesters or courses from a previous study, the time period of the recognized blocks of study or courses is included in the period eligible for fulfilment of study requirements. This period, though, does not include any time of interruption of study.

  3. Completion verification of study requirements of the second stage of study. A student is responsible for completing the second stage of study within the time period determined for study by Art.13 cl.7 of the SECS. Students apply in writing for verification of study requirements at the Student Administration Office not later than they submit their written application for taking the Comprehensive Final Examination.
The Student Administration checks fulfilment of all study requirements of a study block or the first year of study, i.e. earning of all credits, classified credits and passing all examinations set by the recommended study programme through completion verifications of study requirements made during study check.

Students apply in writing for verification of study requirements of the first year of study, as well as the first stage of study at the Student Administration Office not later than July 31 of the respective academic year in which the verification term has elapsed. The Student Administration checks if the study results contained in the application for verification of study results are correct.

A student who has not obtained the minimum number of credit units required for continuation of study or has failed to satisfy any verification of study requirements completion during his/her studies can be suspended from study in accordance with Art.20 cl.5b) of the SECS.

III. Conditions of Admittance to the Comprehensive Final Examination

  1. Students are responsible for delivering a written application for the Comprehensive Final Examination (hereafter CFE) at the Student Administration Office no later than 30 days before the term of holding the CFE.
  2. The CFE may be taken by a student who:
    1. is a student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
    2. has fulfilled all his/her study requirements set for the whole period of study, i.e. has earned all credits, classified credits and examinations for/in courses set by the curricula, as of the day of submission of the application,
    3. submitted his/her Bachelor Project in the required term.
