The Dean´s Directive for Bachelor Degree Study Admission Procedure at FCE CTU in Prague.

 

Public announcement of the admission procedure to Bachelor degree study programmes organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2011/2012 academic year.

This Directive complements The Conditions for Admission to Study in Bachelor Degree Study programmes Implemented at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2011/2012 Academic Year (hereinafter "Conditions for Admission to Study").

The Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague hereby opens the admission procedure for the 2011/2012 academic year to the following Bachelor degree study programmes and branches:

II. IMPORTANT DEADLINES

Date for submitting applications for study, including compulsory enclosuresby 31st March 2011
Dates of entrance examinations20th - 24th June 2011

The date for delivering authenticated copies of the school-leaving certificate for applicants who had not completed their secondary education by the school-leaving examination by the day of submitting the application for study:

- applicants taking entrance examinations: personally on the day of the entrance examination in the room where the entrance examination is held
- all the other applicants: by 24th June 2011

The date for submitting authenticated copies of the school-leaving certificate validation:
no later than by 17th September 2011

The documents may be sent by post (delivery date being the date of their acceptance by post), or handed in by 2 p.m. on the respective date to the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague, Thákurova 7, Praha 6, Room No. C111.

 

III. COURSE OF ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The entrance examination consists of a written test in Mathematics. The applicants for the branch of Architecture and Building Engineering further take an oral part - an interview in Architecture.

  1. The applicants for study programmes of Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Cartography, Civil Engineering whose entrance examination has been waived based on their study results from secondary school will be notified of the entrance examination waiver by registered letter no later than by 5th May 2011.

  2. The applicants for the study programme of Architecture and Building Engineering whose written entrance examination has been waived based on their study results from secondary school will be invited to the oral part of the entrance examination by registered letter no later than three weeks before the entrance examination date.

  3. The applicants whose written entrance examination has not been waived will be invited to the oral part of the entrance examination by registered letter no later than three weeks before the examination date. Due to the fact that the test in mathematics is identical for all study programmes, each applicant will receive only one invitation, even in the case if he/she has submitted more applications to the Faculty.

  4. The written entrance examination in Mathematics consists of a test in Mathematics covering secondary school subject matter as presented in the publication "Mathematics, Entrance Examinations to CTU", CTU Publishing House, Praha 2007. The publication may be purchased from the CTU bookshop selling technical literature in the National Technical Library, Technická 6, Praha 6; there is also an electronic test version available and an offer of preparatory courses for the entrance examination - see the website of the Department of Mathematics.

  5. Evaluation procedure of the oral examination in Architecture:
    • graphic works are assessed by the Entrance Examination Board by max. 3 points for each work, i.e. by max. 9 points;
    • motivation sheet is assessed by the Entrance Examination Board by max. 4 points;
    • interview is assessed by the Entrance Examination Board by max. 3 points;
    • special achievements in the selected branch during secondary school study are assessed by 1 point;
    • extra assessment for applicants with exceptional talents by max. 3 points.
    For basic fulfilment of the requirements the applicant will always receive 1 point for each submitted work or the motivation sheet (with a maximum gain of 4 points in this part), while additional points up to the maximum above will be awarded by the Entrance Examination Board depending on the level of works and manifested interest in the branch of study, the total maximum number of awarded points being 20.

IV. RESULTS OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

Public announcement of test results in Mathematics in points:
on the day of the test at 2 p.m. on the door of the room in which the test was held and on the Faculty web site (you must know the application form code written on the invitation to the admission procedure).

The applicants will be informed about a possibility of seeing their corrected test in mathematics before the start of the test.
The total number of points awarded in the admission procedure will be accessible for each applicant on the electronic application form (after inserting the application form code).

The lists of admitted and non-admitted applicants (including those whose entrance examination was waived) will be put up on the official Faculty board and on the Faculty web site no later than by 1.7.2011.

The Dean´s decision on admission or non-admission to study will be sent to the applicants by registered letter to the addressee no later than within 30 days after the verification of the conditions for admission to study.
The applicant may apply for a review of this decision in writing within 30 days after the delivery of the decision.

 

V. APPLICATION FORM

Only one study programme from the offer below may be filled in the application form:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Geodesy and Cartography
  • Architecture and Building Engineering
  • Civil Engineering

The applicant may submit more application forms (each of them including all compulsory enclosures) for study in different study programmes.

Procedure of submitting applications for study:

  • Fill in the electronic application form at prihlaska.cvut.cz. (applications may be inserted in the database from 1.1.2011 to 31.3.2011).
  • Print the application form, sign it and have your study results in Mathematics certified by your secondary school
  • Settle the administrative fee for costs related to the admission procedure amounting to 450,- Kč / for each submitted application form in one of the ways specified below.
  • Send the printed and signed application form together with compulsory enclosures by post (preferably by registered letter) no later than by 31st March 2011 at the address:

Administrative fee in the admission procedure:

After the application form is received by the Faculty and the fee for the admission procedure is transferred to the Faculty bank account, the electronic application will be registered.

Banking fees related to the transfer of the fee to the Faculty bank account are paid by the applicant.

Once the application for study is registered at the Faculty, the administrative fee cannot be returned.

Filling in data on study results in Mathematics from secondary school:

The applicants write all marks in the subject of Mathematics received for the second half-year of the last four years of secondary school.

The applicants who take their school-leaving examination in the 2010/2011 school year will write the mark in Mathematics received for the first half-year of the last year instead of the second half-year.

The marks are only related to the compulsory subject of Mathematics, not to seminars in Mathematics.

The certification of the marks in the application form by secondary school is required for applicants who take their school-leaving examination in the 2010/2011 school year. The other applicants shall submit authenticated copies of reports for the last four years of secondary school.

The applicants who passed their school-leaving examination outside the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic, do not fill in the data on their study results at secondary school.

The application forms submitted after the deadline of 31.3.2011 will be returned to the applicants.

Incorrectly filled in applications will be discarded from the admission procedure.

 

VI. ENCLOSURES TO APPLICATION FOR STUDY
(must be supplied with each submitted application form)

  1. Authenticated copy of the school-leaving certificate - see Art. II - Important deadlines.
  2. Authenticated copies of school reports for the last 4 years of secondary school study. This is not applicable to the applicants who take their school-leaving examination in 2010/2011.
  3. Proof of payment of the administration fee for the admission procedure in the case of payment by postal order.
  4. Authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition or validation of the school-leaving certificate in the case that the applicant passed the school-leaving examination at a school abroad (not applicable to applicants from the Slovak Republic).
  5. Applicants from abroad (excluding applicants from the Slovak Republic) shall certify their readiness to study in Czech by submitting a certificate of passing the school-leaving or state examination in Czech, or by a certificate of passing an examination in Czech at min. A1 level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" - for more information see http://cestina-pro-cizince.cz/
  6. Applicants for study in the programme of Civil Engineering shall certify their readiness to study in English by passing the entrance examination in English or by submitting a certificate of a school-leaving or state examination in English, or by a certificate of passing an examination in English at min. A1 level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages".

      No "Certificate of Health" is required by the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague.
