Public announcement of admission proceedings to follow-up Master degree study programmes organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2020/21 academic year

Addendum No. 1

 

A. Amendment of dates for the announced admission proceedings with applications submitted by 31. 3. 2020

 

Based on the measures declared by the Czech government to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 disease, the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering hereby amends the original wording of Directive No. 8/2019, the Dean´s Directive for Master Degree Entrance Proceedings at FCE CTU in Prague, the Public Announcement of Admission Proceedings to Follow-up Master Degree Study Programmes Organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2020/2021 academic year, as follows:

VII. RESULTS OF ADMISSION PROCEEDINGS

 

The results of admission proceedings will be published on the Faculty web site no later than by 4. 9. 2020, together with information on registration for Master degree study.
The Dean´s decision on admission to study will be sent to the applicants in writing, no later than within 30 days after the publication of the results of the admission proceedings.
If an applicant fails to collect the sent decision, this decision will be published on the official Faculty board, and the eighth day after its publication is considered as the date of the decision´s delivery.
Part of the decision is the justification and notice for applying for a review of this decision within 30 days after the delivery of the decision.

 


 

B. Announcement of admission proceedings to a newly accredited Master degree study programme of Water and Environmental Engineering (hereinafter WEE)

 

Based on the approval of a new Dean´s Measure No. 6/2020 of 26. 3. 2020, Conditions for Admission to Study in the Master Degree Study Programme of Water and Environmental Engineering Organised at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2020/2021 academic year, the Dean hereby extends Point I of the original version of Directive No. 8/2019 by adding this study programme and declares related dates in points II, V and VII as follows:

V. PROCEDURE OF SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS FOR STUDY for the WEE programme

 

  1. Fill in the CTU electronic application form at www.prihlaska.cvut.cz
    (database opened from 15. 5. 2020 to 15. 8. 2020). It is not necessary to send a printed application form to the Faculty.
  2. Settle the administration fee of Kč 800,- for costs related to admission proceedings by 15. 8. 2020.

VII. RESULTS OF ADMISSION PROCEEDINGS to the WEE programme

 

The results of admission proceedings will be published on the Faculty web site no later than by 4. 9. 2020, together with information on registration for Master degree study.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION TO THE MASTER DEGREE STUDY PROGRAMME OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AT THE FACULTY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING CTU IN PRAGUE

 

The Dean hereby extends the Annex to the Dean´s Directive No. 8/2019 for Master Degree Study Admission Proceedings at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague, General Requirements for the Entrance Examination to Master Degree Study at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague, by adding General Requirements for the Entrance Examination to the Master Degree Study Programme of Water and Environmental Engineering.

Hydraulics. Hydrostatic pressure and force. Pascal law and Archimedes law. Conservation of mass (continuity equation) and conservation of energy (Bernoulli equation). Flow in pressurized pipes (flow regimes, determination of energy losses). Open channel flow (flow regimes and types, determination of the rating curve, uniform flow, Chezy equation). Hydraulic jump. Water hammer. Groundwater flow (Darcy law).

Hydrology. Basic hydrological and meteorological parameters. Statistical assessment of discharges. Rainfall-runoff relations. Transformation of a flood wave.

Water Management. Basic principles of water purification and wastewater treatment. Drinking water supply (water resources, intake systems, distribution systems, storage tanks). Wastewater treatment (types of wastewater, wastewater treatment plants, sewer systems and their parts).

Hydraulic Structures. Basics of design and operation, objects and technologies of the following structures: dams, weirs, channels, waterways. Water energy (types of hydropower stations and their technologies). Flood mitigation (types of flood protection structures, design discharges for protection structures).

Environmental Engineering. Hydropedology (physical properties of soil, hydrostatics and hydrodynamics of groundwater). Irrigation (irrigation parameters and structures, drought assessment). Water drainage (types of drainage structures and their basic parameters). Soil erosion (types of erosion and types of protective measures). Climate change (reasons, environmental impacts, adaptive and reducing measures).
