Dean´s Directive No. 9/2017Ref. VD9/11921/2017

Conditions for admission to study in Bachelor degree study programmes implemented at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2018/2019 academic year

 

The admission of applicants to Bachelor degree study programmes is regulated by the following documents: Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Universities and on Changes and Amendments of Other Related Acts as amended, the Statute of CTU in Prague, these "Conditions for Admission to Study in Bachelor Degree Study Programmes Implemented at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague" and the Dean´s Directive "Public Announcement of the Admission Procedure to Bachelor Degree Study Programmes Organised at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in the 2018/2019 Academic Year" (hereinafter "Dean´s Directive").

 

  1. Conditions for admission to study in Bachelor degree study programmes:
    1. Completion of full secondary or full secondary technical education.
    2. Submission of a properly filled in application form by the 31st March 2018.
    3. Submission of enclosures to the application form specified in the Dean´s Directive.
    4. Gaining the minimum number of points in the entrance examination pursuant to par. 4.
    5. In the case of foreign citizens (excluding applicants from the Slovak Republic) applying for study in a study programme in Czech language, certification of their readiness to study in Czech in one of the ways specified in the Dean´s Directive.
    6. In the case of applicants for study in a study programme in English language, certification of their readiness to study in English in one of the ways specified in the Dean´s Directive.

    The applicants who have complied with the above conditions will be admitted to study at the Faculty of Civil Engineering (hereinafter "FCE") in the order of their number of points gained in the entrance examination, maximally in numbers filling individual study programmes specified in par. 5 to capacity. If more applicants have the same number of points as the applicant in the last place, all these applicants will be admitted.

     

  2. The entrance examination to the study programme of Architecture and Building Engineering consists of two parts:
    • written part – Mathematics (test),
    • oral part – Architecture (interview).

    The test in Mathematics covers secondary school subject matter as specified in the Dean´s Directive.
    In the examination in Architecture, the applicants will submit 4 works:

    • 1 motivation sheet to manifest the applicant´s interest in the study programme (e.g. a sheet entitled "Why have I chosen the programme of Architecture and Building Engineering?", a collage from photographs of favourite structures or interesting architectural details, etc.) – the content and form of the motivation sheet are unlimited, the applicant´s creative approach is assessed. The sheet is the basic background material for an interview during the oral part of the admission procedure and it must be created specifically for the admission procedure (no school seminar projects or collages made for student competitions etc. will be assessed).
    • 3 own graphical works on topics related to architecture, urban planning or landscape produced by any graphic technique (freehand drawing is primarily preferred) manifesting the applicant´s ability to perceive and capture space. Outputs from computer programmes may account for max. 1/3 of presented works; the graphic works assessed exclude drawings from descriptive geometry and related pieces of drawing.

    At their discretion, the applicants may also bring other background materials to manifest their interest in architecture and building engineering (mainly awards for secondary school research activity, certificates of participation in student competitions, etc.).
    The assessment procedure of the oral examination in Architecture is specified by the Dean´s Directive.

     

  3. The entrance examination to study programmes of Civil Engineering/Stavební inženýrství, Geodesy and Cartography, Building Engineering and Civil Engineering consists of one part:
    • written part – Mathematics (test).

    The test in Mathematics covers secondary school subject matter as specified in the Dean´s Directive.
    The applicants for study in the programme of Civil Engineering take an entrance examination in English.

     

  4. The minimum number of points for the entrance examination necessary for admission to study:

    study programme of Architecture and Building Engineering:
    8 points for the examination in Mathematics (max. possible number of points: 20)
    10 points for the examination in Architecture (max. possible number of points: 20)
    study programmes of Civil Engineering/Stavební inženýrství, Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Cartography:
    8 points for the examination in Mathematics (max. possible number of points: 20)
    study programme of Building Engineering:
    6 points for the examination in Mathematics (max. possible number of points: 20).

     

  5. The maximum numbers of students admitted to study:

    in study programmes ofArchitecture and Building Engineering 380

  6. Conditions for the waiver of the entrance examination in Mathematics:

    The Dean will waive the entrance examination in Mathematics to the applicants who completed secondary school in the Czech or Slovak Republic, passed the school-leaving examination in the 2017/2018 or 2016/2017 school years and comply with at least one of the conditions below:

    1. The mean average (expressed as two decimal places) of all marks in the subject of Mathematics listed in the reports for the 2nd half year of the last four grades of secondary school is no greater than 2.50 and, simultaneously, the number of marks in the subject of Mathematics included in the mean average calculation is minimally three (for applicants who take their school-leaving examination in the 2017/2018 school year, the mark obtained for the 1st half year of the last grade is used in the calculation).
    2. They have successfully passed the common part of the state school-leaving examination (státní maturita) pursuant to School Act No. 561/2004 Coll. in Mathematics with the result "excellent".
    3. They have successfully passed the school-leaving examination in the non-compulsory part pursuant to School Act No. 561/2004 Coll. in Mathematics+ with the result "excellent, very good or good".

    The entrance examination waiver is not subject to special application.
    All applicants whose entrance examination in Mathematics was waived and who reached the minimum number of points in the entrance examination in Architecture will be admitted to the study programme of Architecture and Building Engineering. All applicants whose entrance examination in Mathematics was waived will be admitted to the other study programmes.

     

  7. Based upon a written application, the entrance examination may be waived by the Dean to foreign citizens (excluding applicants from the Slovak Republic) who apply for study in the study programme of Civil Engineering and certify their corresponding knowledge of English language in the application form pursuant to par. 1f).

  8. While announcing the admission procedure the Dean may condition the opening of some study programmes or branches of study by minimum numbers of students admitted to study in these study programmes or branches of study.

  9. Depending on the results of the admission procedure the Dean may reduce the minimum number of points required for the successful passing of the entrance examination for individual study programmes.

  10. The Dean may increase the maximum numbers of students admitted to study in individual study programmes specified in par. 5, based on the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports limits for the numbers of financed students.

  11. FCE does not accept application forms from applicants who were expelled from study at FCE CTU in a disciplinary proceeding under Art. 2 of the Disciplinary Code for the Students of CTU in Prague, or who terminated their study by withdrawing from study during an opened disciplinary proceeding.

  12. The Dean may open an exceptional date of the entrance examination for other applicants for study. The announcement of an exceptional date of the entrance examination will be put up on the official FCE board and on the public part of the FCE web site.

  13. The course of the admission procedure, including the dates of entrance tests, is regulated by the Dean´s Directive.

  14. These conditions were approved by the FCE Academic Senate on 22. 11. 2017.
