DATES AND ORGANISATION OF REGISTRATION FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER OF THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

for the second and higher years of Bachelor´s and Master´s degree studies.

Not applicable to registration for 1-year students in Bachelor´s and Master´s degree studies.

I.   Basic Information

  • In the registration time, students do the following
    a) choose courses in the IS KOS information system
    b) choose the time schedule for the courses registered in IS KOS
    c) register for the winter semester
    d) make potential changes in the courses and their time schedule after they have registered for the semester
  • Registration for the semester runs electronically – students register in IS KOS on their own by clicking on the “Close Registration” Tab. Students are allowed to register electronically in IS KOS after they have complied with the prescribed conditions for continuing their studies in the next academic year.
  • If a student is unable to register electronically in IS KOS, they must register in person at the Faculty´s Student Administration
  • After completing registration for the semester, i.e. after clicking on the “Close Registration” Tab, students are no longer able to change their courses in IS KOS on their own. From that moment, courses can only be changed via the Student Administration.
  • Even after completing the registration, students can still make changes in the time schedule of the courses registered in IS KOS on their own (except for three days – see the point below).

  • The possibility of changing the time schedule by the students on their own is closed on the last registration day of 18th September to be subsequently reopened on the first day of instruction, on 22nd September (i.e. access to the time schedule is closed for three days and then opened again, the reason is the final setup of time schedules before the start of instruction).

II.   Registration Dates and Procedure

A)   25. 8. (Mon) in IS KOS from 9.00 a.m. - 18. 9. 2025 (Thu) in IS KOS to 11.59 p.m. Regular Registration Time

During this time, students can perform the following procedures:
  • changes in courses in IS KOS by the student until clicking on the ”Close Registration“ Tab, subsequently, after closing the registration, via the Student Administration,
  • changes in the time schedule in IS KOS by the student before and after clicking on the “Close registration“ Tab. All students are gradually enabled access to the time schedule between 25th and 29th August depending on their previous study results – see Art. IV. par. 7.
  • registration for the semester in IS KOS by the student by clicking on the ”Close Registration“ Tab.

In the Regular Registration Time, students may also register personally at the Student Administration during its office hours.
Students are reminded that the registration ends on Thursday 18. 9. 2025.
The students unregistered by 18. 9. will subsequently have their time schedule in IS KOS cancelled. The reason is to free the course time schedule capacities for registered students.

B)   22. 9. (Mon) – 24. 9. 2025 (Wed) Late Registration outside the preset time based on a written application submitted to the Student Administration

Late Registration can only be completed by students in person at the Student Administration and is subject to a charge of CZK 500,- pursuant to the Rector’s Decree No. 7/2024.

Unregistered students will have their study terminated due to the non-fulfilment of their study duties.

C)   22. 9. (Mon) from 7.00 a.m. – 3. 10. 2025 (Fri) to 11.00 a.m. Additional Changes in the time schedule in IS KOS and changes in courses at the Student Administration during its office hours for registered students after the start of instruction.

From 3. 10. 2025 11.00 a.m., all student’s courses registered in IS KOS become binding regardless of the fact whether the student has or does not have a specific time schedule assigned to them.

III.   Registration for follow-up courses in IS KOS

Characteristics of a follow-up course: some courses of the study plan (course xxx2) follow up the knowledge of another course (course xxx1). This linkage of individual follow-up courses is listed in the study plans on the Faculty website and in the student’s IS KOS.

Regulations for registration for follow-up courses xxx2:
1. Follow-up courses are not preset to students in IS KOS by the Faculty if the student has not completed the previous course xxx1 by the date of presetting the courses.
2. If this happens, the student will individually enter course xxx2 in their IS KOS including its time schedule for the respective semester on their own.
3. The condition for the registration for course xxx2 is either a) previous completion of course xxx1, or b) simultaneous registration for course xxx2 and course xxx1.

The examination in course xxx1 must be passed at least one day before passing the examination in course xxx2, i.e. if a student has not passed the examination in course xxx1, they cannot take the examination in course xxx2 either.

IV.   Other Important Information

  1. The condition for registration for the winter semester is gaining at least the minimum number of credit points necessary for continuing studies and completion of all courses registered for the second time
  2. The last possibility for student´s regular registration in IS KOS by clicking on the “Close registration” Tab is on Thursday September 18th 2025 until 11.59 p.m.
  3. Presetting courses and their time schedule in IS KOS by the Faculty before the registration time
Before the start of registrations, students have their compulsory courses for the semester preset in IS KOS according to the prescribed study plan.
The time schedule is preset for most courses – with the following exceptions (i.e. these courses do not have a preset time schedule):
    a) follow-up courses xxx2 – see Art. III above,
    b) selected courses taught by the Department of Mechanics and the Department of Mathematics,
    c) all courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programme in Geodesy and Cartography.

Students may individually change this list of courses preset by the Faculty (by adding or cancelling courses).
  4. Capacity of compulsory courses
The capacity of compulsory courses is centrally preset by the Faculty so that each student who has the respective course entered in the prescribed study plan can register for the course. If, for capacity reasons, a student cannot register for some compulsory course with a specific time schedule (not applicable to compulsory elective courses), they must in any case register for the compulsory course in IS KOS without a specific time schedule. After the regular registration time has expired, the capacity of the time schedule hours of courses will be adjusted during Monday 22. 9. and Tuesday 23. 9., and the student must then individually register for a specific time schedule of the compulsory course.
  5. Capacity of compulsory elective and elective courses
The capacity of these courses is within the responsibility of the respective department, which presets it in IS KOS.
  6. Registration for physical education lessons
Students enter the respective course code of the Physical Education course in IS KOS, but the time schedule of this course is not chosen or subsequently displayed in IS KOS. Students choose the type of sport and its specific instruction hours on their own on the CTU IPES website: www.utvs.cvut.cz.
  7. The system where students are gradually enabled access to the time schedule applies - see the text below.

Gradual enabling access to the time schedule
Access to the time schedule is enabled to all students gradually in waves, always for a group of students with the highest value of the weighted number of credit points for the last two semesters.
During processing, IS KOS automatically assesses the weighted number of credit points for all students who have not been enabled access to the time schedule so far and enables access to the time schedule to the following group of students.

The first group with the highest value of the weighted number of credit points will be enabled access to registration for their time schedule on Monday 25. 8. after 9.00 a.m., and the calculation for the next group will always run the following day from 9 a.m. All students who have been newly enabled access to the time schedule by the data processing are immediately sent a notification e-mail, i.e. these students already have access to time scheduling available at the time of receiving the e-mail.
Access will be broken up into 5 waves during the registration time from 25. 8. to 29. 8. From Saturday 30. 8., access to the time schedule will be enabled to all students who have complied with the conditions for registration for the next semester.

The weighted number of credit points for each individual student is calculated as the sum of values (4 - GRADE) * CREDIT POINTS for all successfully completed courses (A=1 B=1.5 C=2 D=2.5 E=3 F=4, a credit is entered as 3, courses recognized from previous studies are not evaluated).

V.   Student Administration‘s office hours during the registration time

Until 22. 8. the office hours are: Wednesdays 9.00 – 11.00 a.m., 1.00 – 3.00 p.m.
