Options for geological storage of hydrogen in solid rock

The topic deals with the possibilities of geological storage of hydrogen in solid rock as an alternative to traditional salt caverns. The work will also focus on material interactions and the evaluation of safety and monitoring methods for detecting hydrogen leaks. The Josef underground laboratory is also expected to be used for experimental verification of the properties of the rock environment under conditions expected in such storage facilities and technical aspects of safe storage. The results will contribute to the assessment of the potential for deep hydrogen storage in the Czech Republic.
