Dean´s Directive No. 2/2021

for admission procedure to study in doctoral study programmes at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague

 

The Directive supplements the Dean´s Regulation No.12/2018 on the conditions for admission to study in doctoral degree programmes at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague approved by the AS Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU on 28 November 2018.

In exceptional cases, the Dean may, on the basis of a request, authorise an extraordinary term of admission procedure and entry to doctoral studies.

 

Article III.

Course of the admission procedure

After submitting their application, applicants for doctoral programmes may be invited by the Chairpersons of the departmental board to attend an entrance examination in person or, in the event of a state of emergency, to a distance interview.

The chairperson of the departmental board (in his/her absence, the chairperson of the examination board) draws up a "Protocol of the admission procedure".

The examination board may decide on the result of the entrance examination without the applicant being present. This fact shall be noted in the Protocol in the section "Course of the entrance examination".

The faculty sends the Dean´s decision on admission/non-admission to study to applicants by registered letter to their own hands no later than 30 days after the date of the entrance examination.

The applicant may request a review of this decision. The written request shall be submitted to the Rector of the CTU via the Department of Science and Research within 30 days from the date of receipt of the decision.

 

Article IV.

Application requirements

The applicant for study shall submit the complete application form including the attachments listed below to the Science and Research Department by the deadline set by this Dean´s Directive:

The signature of the applicant, the supervisor and the head of department must be secured on each application form,
in the case of a period of emergency, the conditions for submitting an application are currently specified.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU does not accept applications for doctoral studies from applicants who have already been excluded from doctoral studies at Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU.

Application attachments:

CV (hand signed by the applicant)

Learning outcomes during university studies (bachelor´s and master´s)
Copies of proofs of education (certified copy of the diploma of academic degree in master´s studies - no later than 5 days after graduation, the copy can be certified according to the original by an authorised person at the time of enrolment), or other proofs of passed examinations (in the chosen field of study, in world languages), final year university students will deliver after graduation. Applicants who have completed their previous education in a country other than the Czech Republic or the Slovak Republic must submit a certificate of nostrification of their diploma together with their application

A list of the applicant´s published and unpublished works and other activities

A recommendation (evaluation) from two experts in the field, at least one of whom must be a university teacher.

Proof of payment of the fee for the costs of the admission procedure

One of the following documents, proving the passing of the Czech language examination in accordance with the Conditions for Admission to Study paragraph 1d) - applies to foreigners (except citizens of the Slovak Republic) applying to study in the Czech language:
- Proof of graduation from a master´s degree programme taught in the Czech language
- Proof of passing the graduation or state examination in the Czech language,
- proof of passing an examination in the Czech language of at least level B2 according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" at the Department of Languages at the CTU Faculty of Civil Engineering or at the Institute of Language and Vocational Training at Charles University.

One of the following documents, proving the passing of the English language examination in accordance with the Conditions for Admission to Study paragraph 1e) - applies to applicants applying to study in English:
- proof of graduation from a master´s degree programme taught in English
- proof of passing the English language graduation or state examination
- proof of passing an English language examination of at least level B2 according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" at the Department of Languages of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU or at the Institute of Language and Vocational Training of Charles University.

Article V.

Payment of the admissions fee

The fee for acts related to the admission procedure (according to the Statute of the CTU Article 11, paragraph 1, letter a/) is 850 CZK.

Message to the recipient: name of the applicant

Bank charges associated with the transfer of the amount to the faculty account are always borne by the applicant.
Once the application has been registered at the faculty, the administrative fee is not refundable.

 

1. The Directive shall enter into force and effect on the date of issue.
2. The Directive is binding for all doctoral students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
