Dean´s Directive No. 3/2019 

The Dean´s Directive on the Admission Procedure to Doctoral Degree Study Programmes at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague

Public announcement of the admission procedure to Doctoral degree study at FCE CTU in Prague in the 2019/2020 academic year.

 

This Directive complements the "Dean´s Directive on Conditions for Admission to Study in Doctoral Degree Study Programmes at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague" approved by FCE CTU AS on 28. 11. 2018.

In exceptional cases, on a candidate´s request, the Dean may grant an exceptional date of the admission procedure and start of doctoral degree study.

 

III. Course of admission procedure

After submitting the filled in application form, candidates for Doctoral degree study in the Doctoral degree study programmes of Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Engineering, Geodesy and Cartography and Architecture and Building Engineering may be invited to personal participation in the entrance examination by the Chairpersons of Branch Boards.

The Chairperson of a Branch Board (or the Chairperson of the Board of Examiners, if the former is absent) elaborates the "Entrance Procedure Protocol" about the course of the entrance procedure.

The Board of Examiners may decide about the result of the entrance examination without the candidate´s presence. This fact is entered in the Protocol, in the section "Course of the Entrance Examination".

The Dean´s decision on admission/non-admission to study is sent by the Faculty to the candidates by registered mail with personal delivery against a receipt no later than within 30 days after the entrance examination date. The candidate may apply for a review of this decision. The written application is submitted to the CTU Rector via the Department of Science and Research within 30 days after the delivery date of the decision.

 

IV. Prerequisites of the application form

Candidates for study submit a properly filled in application form, including the enclosures below, to the Department of Science and Research by the date specified in this Dean´s Directive:

Application forms cannot be sent by electronic mail for the reason of the necessity of adding signatures (candidate´s, supervisor´s, head of department´s).

The Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague does not accept application forms from candidates who have been expelled from doctoral degree study at FCE CTU in Prague.

Enclosures to the application form:

  1. curriculum vitae (signed by candidate´s own hand)
  2. study results during university study (Bachelor´s and Master´s degree)
  3. copies of certificates of education (certified copy of the diploma granting a degree in Master´s degree study – no later than within 5 days after the graduation ceremony, the copy can be certified against the original by an authorized staff member during registration), potential other documents certifying passed examinations (in a selected branch, in foreign languages), students of the last year at university shall submit the above certificates after the graduation ceremony. The Candidates who completed previous education in a country other than the Czech Republic or Slovak Republic must submit a certificate of their diploma validation together with the application form
  4. list of published and unpublished candidate´s works and other activities
  5. recommendation (evaluation) by two experts in the field, one of whom, at least, must be a university teacher. The recommendations must be confidential, i.e. in a sealed envelope
  6. proof of payment of the administration fee covering expenses related to the admission procedure
  7. one of the certificates below proving passing an examination in Czech language pursuant to Conditions for Admission to Study, Par. 1d) – refers to foreign citizens (excluding candidates from the Slovak Republic) applying for study in Czech:
    • certificate of completion of a Master´s degree study programme taught in Czech
    • certificate of passing the school-leaving examination or state examination in Czech,
    • certificate of passing an examination in Czech language at min. a B2 level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" at the Department of Languages FCE CTU or at the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies Charles University.
  8. one of the following certificates proving passing an examination in English language pursuant to Conditions for Admission to Study, Par. 1e) – refers to candidates for study in English:
    • certificate of passing a Master´s degree study programme taught in English
    • certificate of passing the school-leaving examination or state examination in English
    • certificate of passing an examination in English language at min. a B2 level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" at the Department of Languages FCE CTU or at the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies Charles University.

 

V. Administration fee payment

The fee covering the acts related to the admission procedure (pursuant to the CTU Statute, Art. 11 Par. 1 Letter a/) amounts to 0.2 times the basic fee rounded down to the nearest multiple of fifty Czech Crowns.

The fee can be paid by postal order of type A or by bank transfer. The Faculty postal order can be obtained at the Department of Science and research.

Banking fees related to the transfer of the fee to the Faculty account are always paid by the candidate.
After filing the application form at the Faculty, the administration fee shall not be returned.
