REGISTRATION FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER OF THE 2021/2022 ACADEMIC YEAR

for the second and higher years of Bachelor´s and Master´s degree studies

I   Basic information

  • In the registration time, students do the following
    a) choose courses in the IS KOS information system
    b) choose the time schedule for registered courses in IS KOS
    c) register for the winter semester
    d) make potential changes in courses and their time schedule after they have registered for the semester.
  • Registration for the semester runs electronically - students register in IS KOS on their own by clicking on the "Close Registration" Tab. Students are allowed to register electronically in IS KOS after complying with the prescribed conditions for advancing to the next academic year of studies.
  • If a student is unable to register electronically in IS KOS, they must complete their registration personally at the Faculty Student Administration.
  • After completing registration for the semester, i.e. after clicking on the "Close Registration" Tab, students are no longer able to change their courses in IS KOS on their own. From that moment, courses can only be changed via the Student Administration.
  • Even after the registration is completed, students can still make changes in the time schedule for registered courses in IS KOS on their own.
  • The option of changing the time schedule on their own is closed for students on the last day of the Regular Registration Time and reopened on the first day of instruction.

In the Regular Registration Time, students may also register personally at the Student Administration during its office hours.
Students are reminded that the registration ends on Thursday 16. 9.
The students unregistered by 16.9. 2021 will subsequently have their time schedule in IS KOS cancelled. The reason is to free the course time schedule capacities for registered students.

B)   20. 9. (Mon) – 22. 9. 2021 (Wed) Late Registration outside the preset time
based on a written application submitted to the Student Administration

This Late Registration may only be completed by students personally at the Student Administration and is subject to a charge of Kč 500,- pursuant to the Rector´s Decree No. 3/2021.

Unregistered students will have their study terminated due to the non-fulfilment of their study duties.

C)   20. 9. (Mon) – 1. 10. 2021 (Fri) additional changes in the list of courses and their time schedule
for registered students after the start of instruction

  • changes in the time schedule by the student in IS KOS: 20. 9. from 7.00 – 1. 10. until 11.00

From 1.10. 2021 11.00 a.m., all student´s courses registered in IS KOS become binding regardless of the fact whether a student has or does not have a specific time schedule assigned to them.

III   Registration for follow-up courses in IS KOS

Characteristics of a follow-up course: some courses of the study plan (course xxx2) follow up the knowledge of another course (course xxx1). This linkage of individual follow-up courses is listed in the study plans on the website and in the student´s IS KOS.

Regulations for registration for follow-up courses xxx2:

  1. follow-up courses are not preset to students in IS KOS by the Faculty if they have not completed the previous course xxx1 by the date of presetting the courses,
  2. if this happens, students will individually enter course xxx2 in their IS KOS for the respective semester including its time schedule on their own
  3. the condition for this registration for course xxx2 is either a) previous completion of course xxx1, or b) simultaneous registration for course xxx2 and course xxx1.

The examination in course xxx1 must be passed at least one day before passing the examination in course xxx2.
This means that if a student does pass the examination in course xxx1, they cannot take the examination in course xxx2 either.

IV   Other Important Information

  1. To register for the winter semester students have to obtain at least the minimum number of credit points necessary for continuing studies and complete all courses registered for the second time.
  2. The last possibility of student´s registration in IS KOS in the Regular Registration Time by clicking on the "Close Registration" Tab is on Thursday September 16th, 2021 by 23.59.
  3. Presetting courses and time schedule in IS KOS by the Faculty
At the start of registration, all students have a preset list of compulsory courses for the winter semester according to the prescribed study plan, including their time schedule, in IS KOS. Exceptions are a) follow-up courses xxx2 – see art. III above, b) selected courses taught by the Department of Mechanics and the Department of Mathematics, which are preset without a specific time schedule. Students may individually change this preset list of courses (by adding or cancelling courses).
  4. Capacity of compulsory courses
This capacity is centrally preset by the Faculty so that each student who has the respective course entered in the prescribed study plan can register for the course. If, for capacity reasons, a student cannot register for some compulsory course with a specific time schedule (not applicable to compulsory elective courses), they must in any case register for the compulsory course in IS KOS without a specific time schedule. After the end of the Regular Registration Time, the capacity of the time schedule of courses will be adjusted during Monday 20. 9. and Tuesday 21. 9., and the student must then individually include the compulsory course in their time schedule.
  5. Capacity of compulsory elective and elective courses
This capacity is within the responsibility of the respective department.
  6. Registration for physical education lessons
Students enter the respective physical education course code in IS KOS, but the time schedule of this course is not selected or displayed in IS KOS. Successively, they must choose a sport and specific instruction hours on www.utvs.cvut.cz.
  7. The system where students are gradually enabled access to the time schedule applies – see the text below.

Gradual enabling access to time schedule
Access to the time schedule will be enabled to students gradually in waves, always for a group of students with the highest value of the weighted number of credit points for the last two semesters.
During processing, KOS automatically assesses the weighted number of credit points for all students who have not been enabled access to the time schedule so far, and enables access to the time schedule to the following group of students.

The first group with the highest value of the weighted number of credit points will be enabled access to the time schedule on Monday 23.8. after 16.00, and the calculation for the next group will always run the following day from 3 a.m. All students who have been newly enabled access to the time schedule by the respective afternoon or night data processing are immediately sent a notification e-mail, i.e. these students already have access to time scheduling available at the moment of receiving the e-mail.
Access will be broken up into 5 waves running from 23.8. to 27.8. From Saturday 28.8., access to the time schedule will be enabled to all students who complied with the conditions for registration for the next semester.

The weighted number of credit points for each individual student is calculated as the sum of values (4-GRADE)*CREDIT POINTS for all successfully completed courses (A=1 B=1.5 C=2 D=2.5 E=3 F=4, a credit is entered as 3, courses recognized from previous studies are not evaluated).
Up-to-date information on students´ access to IS KOS is published on the Faculty Computing and Information Centre´s website, see www.fsv.cvut.cz/en/vic/kos.php.
