Conditions for admission is repealed

Conditions for admission to study in Master degree study programmes implemented at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague for 2011/12 academic year

 

Admission of applicants to Master degree study programmes is regulated by the following documents:
Act No. 111/1998 Sb. on Universities as amended and related other acts, Statute of CTU in Prague, CTU Admission Procedure Rules (Annex No. 2 to CTU Statute), Conditions of Study at CTU for Foreigners (Annex No. 3 to CTU Statute), Conditions for Admission to Study in Master Degree Study Programmes Implemented at Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague, and the Dean´s Directive No. 2/2010 "Public Announcement of Admission Procedure to Master Degree Study Programmes Organised at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague" (hereinafter "Dean´s Directive").

 

1. Basic conditions for admission to study in Master degree study programmes:

  1. For study programmes of Civil Engineering/Stavební inženýrství, Architecture and Building Engineering, Geodesy and Cartography, Buildings and Environment and Civil Engineering the condition is successful completion of a four-year Bachelor degree study programme in the same or related branch of study (related branches of study are specified in par. 3).
    For the study programme of Intelligent Buildings the condition is successful completion of study in Bachelor degree study programmes in branches of study oriented towards building structures, architecture, building environment technology, building services.
  2. Submission of a properly filled in application form by 31.3.2011, including compulsory enclosures specified in the Dean´s Directive.
  3. Submission of an authenticated copy of the Bachelor diploma, including the diploma supplement in a time pursuant to the Dean´s Directive. If Bachelor study was completed abroad (not applicable to the Slovak Republic), the condition is submission of an official translation of the documents above into English.
  4. Foreign citizens (excluding applicants from the Slovak Republic) applying for study in a study programme in Czech will certify their readiness to study in Czech language by submitting a certificate of passing the school-leaving or state examination in Czech, or by a certificate of passing an examination in Czech at min. A1 level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages".
  5. Applicants for study in a study programme in English will certify their readiness to study in English language by completing the Bachelor degree study programme in English or by submitting a certificate of a school-leaving or state examination in English, or by a certificate of passing an examination in English at min. A1 level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages".

The applicants who have complied with the conditions above will be admitted to study maximally in numbers filling individual study programmes and branches to capacity (maximum numbers of students admitted to study are specified in par. 4). Provided a greater number of students comply with the specified conditions, they will be admitted in the order from the best as specified pursuant to the principles in par. 2.

 

2. Principles for determining the order of applicants:

  1. For study programmes of Civil Engineering/Stavební inženýrství, Geodesy and Cartography, Buildings and Environment, Civil Engineering and Intelligent Buildings the order will be determined on the basis of the study weighted average for Bachelor study considered with a weight of 0.9 and the overall mark of the state graduation examination considered with a weight of 0.1.
  2. For the study programme of Architecture and Building Engineering the following procedure is adopted:
    All registered applicants will be divided by the Branch Admission Board into two groups characterized below, the order of applicants in the group will be based on study results within the respective group.
              Group 1 - applicants who have completed a Bachelor degree study programme by working out an architectural study or building project at the Department of Architecture and have passed the state graduation examination with an overall result of A to C (classified min. by mark 2). The order within the group will be based on the study weighted average of all courses completed in Bachelor degree study.
              Group 2 - all the other applicants who do not comply with the conditions to be included in group 1. The order within the group will be based on the study weighted average of all studios, courses of Theory of Buildings (Typology) and History of Architecture completed in Bachelor degree study.
    Admission to study will start with applicants placed in group 1 following the determined order in a maximum number that fills the study programme to capacity. If the study programme is not filled to capacity with applicants from group 1, then applicants placed in group 2 will be admitted following the determined order in a maximum number that fills the study programme to capacity.

In cases where related branches cannot be unambiguously determined, the decision is up to the Main Admission Board.

5. The study weighted average is determined pursuant to Art. 16 of the Study and Examination Code for Students of CTU in Prague as amended (hereinafter "SECS"). If another university does not use the credit system, the subject weight is given by the number of teaching units per week. The mark of the state graduation examination is determined on a numerical classification scale pursuant to Art. 15 of SECS.

 

6. The Dean may increase the maximum number of students admitted to study in individual study programmes specified in par. 4, based on the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport limits for numbers of financed students or considering the number of applicants registered for individual branches of study.

 

7. The Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU does not accept applications of applicants who have already studied twice at the Faculty in any Master degree programme without success. Nor does it accept application forms of applicants who were expelled from study at FCE CTU in a disciplinary proceeding under Art. 2 of the Disciplinary Code for the Students of CTU in Prague.

 

8. The course of the admission procedure is regulated by the Dean´s Directive.

 

9. These conditions were approved by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague on 24th November 2010.
