Extreme effects of live load, influence lines. Matrix form of the direct stiffness method and its computer implementation for trusses and frames. Two-dimensional elasticity and its finite element treatment. Governing equations of thin plates and their finite element treatment.

1. Displacement method, planar beam end forces, formulas and beam stiffness matrix nad submatrices
2. Degrees of freedom and equilibrium equations in planar frames, matrix form
3. Assembly and solution of the system, back substitutions, internal forces diagrams
4. Planar frames and gridworks as special cases of spatial frames, displacement method for gridworks
5. Influence lines and variables extremes for statically determinate planar frames and trusses
6. Stress tensor in 3D
7. Stress tensor in 2D
8. Material failure conditions, Rankine, Mises, Mohr-Coulomb
9. Strain tensor in 3D and 2D, strain gauges
10. Linear elastic constitutive equations
