Abstract(semestr )
This course focuses on various aspects of geoenvironmental engineering that deals with subsurface contamination and measures that lead to groundwater and soil cleanup. Seminars will include lectures, measurements in laboratory, calculations, and modelling.
Content 
This course focuses on various aspects of geoenvironmental engineering that deals with subsurface contamination and remediation
1. Geochemistry background, soil colloids
2. Distribution of contaminants in the porous media . Measurements of the parameters for modelling of contaminant transport and fate in the subsurface.
3. Toxic compounds in the subsurface. Impact on the human body and living organisms
4. Relevant environmental legislation and regulations
5. Contaminated site characterization
6. Monitoring strategies
7. Remediation technologies I: Pump and treat, air sparging, solvent vapor extraction, soil flushing
8. Remediation technologies II: Monitored natural attenuation, fracturing, Lasagna process, electrokinesis, phytoextraction
9. Remediation technologies III: In situ waste containment, solidification and stabilization, vitrification in situ
10. Remediation technologies V: Permeable reactive barriers
11. Remediation technologies VI: : In-situ and ex-situ bioremediation
12. Remediation technologies VII: Emerging technologies
