IT information for new employees

How to obtain log-in data

Your CTU username and password can be obtained in person at the CTU ID Card Issuing Office. We recommend combining your visit with the issue of a CTU employee ID card, which cannot be obtained in another way than by visiting the ID Card Issuing Office in person.

External staff members who do not visit FCE have the opportunity to obtain the log-in data by phone. In this case, however, you need the assistance of another person from your department to confirm your identity.

We recommend changing the newly issued CTU password at the first opportunity in the Usermap application.

How to log in

Most services (KOS, Usermap, FCE Portal ...) are accessed directly with your username (e.g. hulamil) and CTU password. However, some services require a username with the @cvut.cz extension (e.g. hulamil@cvut.cz). Although it looks like it, it is not an e-mail address. The @cvut.cz extension only informs the service (for example, Microsoft Teams) that you belong to the CTU organization.

Password change or forgotten password

The CTU password is valid for 365 days. Before this period expires, you need to change your password, again in the Usermap application.

Systems such as Usermap, KOS, FCE Portal and others inform you about the approaching expiry of the CTU password while you log in. No notification e-mails are sent out.
If you receive such an e-mail, it is a fake and delete the email!

In the case of a forgotten or expired password, you can personally visit the CTU ID Card Issuing Office, or as an employee, you may use the services of the Faculty password managers in Room D-2079 in Building D.

All password change options are listed on the University VIC website.

Mailboxes and addresses

It is compulsory for employees with full-time contracts to have a Faculty e-mail account and address. Other employees are obliged to validate their private e-mail address in the Usermap application.

You can be instructed on how to set up a Faculty e-mail box and address by the Head of your Department, or you can choose to set it up yourself.

If you have more e-mail addresses, you choose one as your preferred one in the Usermap application. All automated CTU and FCE systems communicate with you to your preferred e-mail address. If you set up a Faculty e-mail address (or one is set up for you), the Faculty address will be set as the preferred one and the University will no longer communicate with you via your private e-mail address.

For a complete overview of the status of your e-mail addresses, please log in to E-mail services.

What to do first

  • At the first possible opportunity, we recommend changing the generated CTU password.
  • Set a password for the Eduroam Wi-Fi network, again in the Usermap application.
  • Set up your room number and phone extension, again in the Usermap application.
  • Read the Cybersecurity (CS) rules at Cyber security and complete the CS Online Training and Test within ten days.
  • You can connect your device to the FCE network via connecting the device to the network.

Where else shall I go?

We recommend clicking on the left grey menu, where you can learn about the services of the Faculty Computer and Information Centre, especially in the Instructions section at Tutorials.

We also recommend the IST - Employee website to be informed about the services provided by the University Computer and Information Centre.

When technology does not work

The employees of the User Support Centre, which is part of the FCE Computer and Information Centre, will help you with most IT problems. Please report technical problems at HelpDesk (Create – Project: FCE_CIC_IT_Problems and Requirements).
