The course presents fundamental concepts of biological, chemical and physical processes in water and wastewater treatment. In the lectures, an introduction to the issue will be discussed and then
processes in water and wastewater treatment -
chemical oxidation and disinfection, precipitation, flocculation, coagulation, flotation, filtration, activated carbon adsorption, ion exchange, membrane treatment, groundwater treatment, activated sludge process, nitrification / denitrification / biological P elimination, biofilm and application to full scale plants, anaerobic processes, sludge stabilization, nutrients recovery, gas exchange, sedimentation, flotation and
process combination in water and wastewater treatment and re-use. The selected processes will be practiced computationally and experimentally in exercises. |
