Legislation for intellectual property protection and technology transfer

Industrial property rights

An industrial property right denotes the protection of the results of technical creative activity (inventions and utility models), objects of industrial art (industrial designs) as well as rights to designations (trademarks and appellations of origin) and, finally, design schemes of semiconductor products (so-called topographies of semiconductor products) and others.

Copyright and related rights

In addition to industrial property rights, intellectual property rights include copyright, related rights and database rights. Comprehensive regulation, including the means of protection of copyright and rights related to copyright and the regulation of collective rights management, is encompassed in Act No 121/2000 Coll., on Copyright and Rights Related to Copyright and on Amendments to Certain Acts (Copyright Act).
